Yoshi’s Book Reviews – Doctor Cat

yoshi reading

Greetings! Yoshi here with a new book review. Today I’ll be looking at Doctor Cat by Sarah Sobole:

dr cat

As a cat detective, I’m a big fan of cats in other professions so I was quite interested in a book about a cat physician. This is a graphic novel, a collection of the webcomics that can be found at http://doctorcatmd.com/. The book is about a cat (named Doctor Cat) who maintains a medical practice and is somehow able to perform surgery without thumbs. His problems start when he accidentally leaves a mousey toy inside of a patients chest. The patient immediately calls in Lawyer Cat to make things right. The books features some great cartooning that people of all ages can enjoy while also having some sharp Doctor/Lawyer jokes for the adults.
I highly recommend Doctor Cat.

Cat Interview!

Cat detectives Yoshi and Gatsby were recently interviewed by Rocco the Tuxedo Cat from the “Cats, Books and … More Cats!” blog. If you’ve ever wanted to see two cats interviewed by another cat, check it out:

This actually wasn’t the boys first interview. Last year they sat down with Truffles the Tortie blogger over at Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows:

Cat Webcomics

Gatsby surfing the web

Hi humans, Gatsby here. Everyone knows that cats rule comic strips. A lot of people are aware of the newspaper antics of comic strip cats Garfield, Bucky and Heathcliff but cats also rule the internet. At the place where comics and the internet intersect there are a bunch of webcomics that feature a feline point of view. Here are my favorites:

Breaking Cat News: http://www.breakingcatnews.com/
Three house cats act as newsmen reporting on the everyday goings on in their house. The food bowl being empty on an early Saturday morning is treated as seriously as CNN reporting on a stock market crash. Hilarious. My favorite reports are: “The Woman is Trying to Make the Bed” and “The Man Has to Get Up Early Tomorrow”

Doctor Cat: http://doctorcatmd.com/comic/doctor-cat
Absurdist comic about a cat doctor (No, not a vet – a doctor that happens to be a cat). Find out how someone born without thumbs can perform surgery!

Cat versus Human: http://www.catversushuman.com/
The cat and the human don’t seem to be in opposition as the title might have you believe but these cartoons are humorous observations on feline – human behavior.

Eat, Sleep, Sniff: http://www.eatsleepsniff.com/updates/tag/diary-comics
The ongoing story of the cartoonist and his cat Tali. And his wife and his baby. In that order. This guy is really into his cat.

Shut Up, Garfield! http://shutupgarfield.tumblr.com/
A version of the Garfield comic strip where Garfield is deprived of his thought balloons. This has the effect of making his owner seem insane. The internet seems to do this kind of thing to Garfield a lot.

Gatsby’s Weird Cat Websites

There are some odd places on the internet. Some of them are feline-centric. My cat Gatsby has a few favorites:

Cats Sleep in Weird Places: We all know that cats can pick odd places to rest but here’s some photographic evidence.

Brides throwing cats: That’s right, its pictures of brides throwing CATS instead of bouquets. Actually its just photoshop magic but it looks funny.

Cats that look like Hitler: I don’t even know what say.

Garfield minus Garfield: The Garfield comic strip with Garfield removed from each episode. The result makes his owner Jon seem like a madman.

My Cat Hates You: Tons of pictures of cats being cats.

Catmoji: This site isn’t that weird but it has a lot of cat pictures. Some of which are very odd.
